电磁兼容性是指“设备或系统在其电磁环境中能正常工作且不对环境中任何事物构成不能承受的电磁骚扰的能力”。近年来，随着电子、信息技术在医用电气设备中的广泛应用，以及新的通信技术（如个人通讯系统、蜂窝电话等）在社会生活各领域的迅速发展，医用电气设备使用时所处的电磁环境日益复杂。一方面，在其使用过程中可能受到周围电气设备等电磁能发射的干扰，造成对患者的伤害；另一方面如果其电磁兼容性指标达不到要求，因其自身也会发射电磁能，可能影响无线电通讯业务和周围其他设备的正常运行。因此，电磁兼容性指标日益成为医用电气设备的重要安全指标，世界上发达国家纷纷通过法令法规的形式，强制实施了医用电气设备的电磁兼容性测试标准。 在这种情况下，为了更好地保证公众用械安全，国家食品药品监督管理局组织全国医用电器标准化技术委员会，等同转化国际医用电气设备电磁兼容测试标准IEC 60601-1-2，起草完成了YY 0505-2012《医用电气设备 第1-2部分：安全通用要求 并列标准 电磁兼容 要求和试验》医疗器械行业标准，于2012年12月17日发布，并将于2014年1月1日起正式实施。该标准是医用电气设备必须遵守的，与GB 9706.1《医用电气设备 第1部分：安全通用要求》并列的基础通用安全标准。
为了保证标准的顺利实施，国家局已配套发布了《关于印发YY 0505-2012医疗器械行业标准实施工作方案的通知》 （食药监办械[2012]149号）和《关于YY 0505-2012医疗器械行业标准实施有关工作要求的通知》（食药监办械[2012]151号），明确了标准实施的有关具体要求和时间安排等。迄今，国家局已按程序认可了北京市、上海市、广州市、天津市、杭州市、武汉市医疗器械质量监督检验中心、江苏省、深圳市医疗器械检测所等医疗器械检测机构按照该标准，从事医用电气设备开展电磁兼容性检测的能力，为相关产品检测提供了技术保障。
从目前初步统计情况看，该标准的实施，将会涉及国内外3-4千家医疗器械生产企业的约11000余个医用电气设备。作为产品安全的第一责任人，生产企业应该高度重视标准的发布实施，积极学习新标准，在研发、生产等全过程中贯彻新标准，确保产品符合新标准要求。食品药品监督管理部门将按规定做好标准实施后有关监督检查工作，对安全指标达不到要求的产品依法依规予以处理。
通过该标准的实施，必将进一步提高我国医用电气设备的安全性和有效性，保护公众的健康和安全，同时可以淘汰落后产品，促进产品更新换代，提升我国医用电气设备整体的产品质量和市场竞争力，推动我国医疗器械行业健康发展。
